Slack is a free chat application that is available on the web, as a standalone application for a computer, and on mobile devices. It is organized into channels with specific purposes and also allows members to directly message each other.
Civic Tech DC uses Slack extensively to communicate between events, about upcoming events, and to allow members to communicate with each other easily. Each project has their own Slack channel with pinned messages, canvases, lists, and other features that allow for onboarding, project management, and communication.
